Loudoun County Library Starting Overdue Fines

(From Loudoun County Press Release)

LibraryFineslogo Overdue fines will be implemented for all overdue materials at all branches of Loudoun County Public Library beginning Tuesday, October 5, 2010. All materials overdue on that date will be charged an overdue fine.

The new policy covers all branches: Ashburn, Cascades, Lovettsville, Middleburg, Purcellville, Rust (Leesburg), and Sterling.

During the FY 2011 budget process, overdue fines were instituted by the Library Board of Trustees and the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors in order to prevent, to the extent possible, reductions in library services. Overdue fines will begin on October 5, 2010 and payment will be due on every overdue item. The fine will be 10 cents per day, per item. The maximum fine per item will be $5.00. An unpaid fine of $10 or more will block the library card so that no more items can be checked out or renewed. Overdue fines may be paid at any payment kiosk in any library branch or online.

Visit any branch of Loudoun County Public Library or library.loudoun.gov/fines for more details.
